Dian Noviyarini, Repairs Administrator, Surabaya Indonesia

Dian didn’t grow up expecting to work in mining industry. Her path into the industry came gradually, through experience, curiosity, and a desire to do work that really mattered. Before joining Metso, Dian built a strong foundation in administration, with roles across manufacturing, tax consulting, and marketing.

Each job has taught her something different — structure, systems, how to communicate clearly, and each one laid the groundwork for what came next. Joining Metso six years ago as an external worker, she soon saw the opportunities Metso offered.

“It’s been an exciting journey,” she says, “with plenty of opportunities to develop through both training and hands-on experience.”

At Surabaya’s repair center, Dian is now an essential part of her team. Her role as Repairs Administrator means managing workflows, tracking parts and processes, and making sure everything flows between departments. But for her, it’s never just about ticking boxes. “I’m constantly learning something new. The dynamic nature of the industry keeps me engaged and motivated. I feel like what I do contributes to something bigger.”

Behind every crusher refurbishment and component rebuild, there’s someone like Dian, making sure the paperwork, communication and planning hold tight.

The sense of contributing to Metso’s success and to the broader industry drives me to continually improve and excel in my role.

Mellisa Heiderich, Team Lead – Stores, Henderson Australia

When Mellisa walked through the gates at Metso Henderson in 2022, she was searching for a change — but what she found was healing. Coming from a background in Community Services and as a Donor Nurse Assistant with the Australian Red Cross, Mellisa knew how to care for others.

She also knew burnout intimately. After years of supporting people through crisis, she needed a reset.

“My original plan was to try something different, take a break from the complexities of my old job,” she says. “And here I am nearly three years later, loving it.”

She started in admin in the Stores team, completely outside her previous field, but her impact was immediate. Through quiet leadership, warmth, and adaptability, she began building something more than a process: a culture. One that thrived on respect, kindness, and rolling up your sleeves when it counted.

What Mellisa found at Henderson wasn’t just a workplace. It was a safe space — a place of growth and recovery.

“Unfortunately, like many others, domestic and family violence has been part of my story. It’s why I went into community work in the first place — to help others in similar situations. I was nervous changing industries but I didn’t need to be. From day one, I’ve been treated with kindness, courtesy, and care. This team holds a very special place in my heart.”

Today, Mellisa is the Team Leader for Stores at Henderson, and her leadership style is unmistakable: collaborative, grounded, and full of purpose.

“Every day is different. What’s coming in? What’s going out? What does the workshop need? What can I do to make the system work better for everyone?”

Her time away in Karratha as part of the admin team at Metso’s new facility gave her fresh perspective and experience, but when the Henderson Team Leader role opened up, the call to return was too strong to ignore. Thriving on a challenge, whether it's tweaking processes, training a teammate, or just showing up with a positive attitude, she sees her role as the glue that keeps the machine moving smoothly.

“We don’t have problems, only solutions. I’m very solution-focused. And I always try to lift the energy in the room,” she adds.

Continuous improvement is at the heart of what I do. I love that it’s a work in progress, it keeps me energized.

Living the Metso values

We asked Dian and Mellisa about which Metso value resonates with them the most. Here’s what they had to say.

Dian: Customer in Center

“Everything I do — from reporting to supporting repairs — is about improving the customer experience, directly or indirectly.”

Mellisa: Getting it done together

“This one means the most to me. It reminds us that we’re all part of something bigger — and when we work and live that value, amazing things can happen.”

Their message to other women

Mellisa: “Don’t let fear hold you back. There are good people everywhere, and when you find the right team, they’ll lift you up. Show up, be yourself, and don’t be afraid to shine.”

Dian: “There’s a place for you in this industry. It’s exciting, it’s evolving, and your perspective matters. Don’t hesitate to step in - you have something important to offer.”
