#MetsoWomen: Three journeys, one shared determination

In an industry still largely male-dominated, three Metso colleagues in France – Maria Do Nascimento, Lisa Couturier, and Ursula Mankolo – show what determination, expertise, and passion can achieve. Their stories highlight that technical professions know no gender, but they do require precision, curiosity, and commitment.

Maria Do Nascimento – Product Methods Technician

With 14 years of experience at Metso, Maria has built a career in an environment where women are still underrepresented. Starting on a temporary contract, she quickly proved her skills and perseverance. For Maria, precision, logic, and attention to detail are at the core of her work.

Don’t set limits for yourself. Precision and attention to detail are real strengths.

Lisa Couturier – Industrialization Technician

Lisa is passionate about continuous improvement and has taken on several industrial roles before becoming a 5S facilitator at the Mâcon plant. She acknowledges the challenges of earning recognition in a male-dominated field but also the pride she feels when her projects succeed and make a difference for operators.

Ursula Mankolo – Quality Trainee in Metrology

Ursula represents the new generation of women in industry. After completing a work-study program at Metso, she returned to school to specialize in metrology. As the only woman on her team, she gained respect through professionalism and commitment. Determination and constant growth sum up her journey.

What brings them together

What unites Maria, Lisa, and Ursula is a combination of strong technical expertise, from industrial drawing and 5S to metrology and continuous improvement, along with a constant drive to grow through training, further studies, and ongoing curiosity. Just as important are the values they share: perseverance, kindness, and teamwork.

Together, their message to young women is clear: Believe in yourself, nurture your curiosity, and dare to explore technical careers. Industry needs diverse talents to innovate and move forward.
